People get caught up in the details of Genesis.

They argue about the tree, the rule, the serpent, the knowledge of good and evil. They turn it into a puzzle. A test. A theology exam.

But it’s not.

Genesis is a love story.

And the Fall isn’t complicated. It’s not even surprising.

It’s the most human thing in the world:

They didn’t want to be loved.

They wanted to be God.

There Was Only One Rule

And it wasn’t about fruit.

It wasn’t about trees.

It wasn’t about moral awareness.

There was one rule:

Let yourself be loved by God.

Live in relationship with the source of love, light, joy, beauty, truth.

Be His child.

Receive everything.

That’s it.

You were made to be filled.

But Eve, Then Adam, Refused to Receive

The serpent said, “You will be like God.”

And that was enough.

They didn’t want to be children anymore.

They didn’t want to be loved.

They didn’t want to receive.

They wanted to be the light.

But they had no light.

So they fell.

Not because God struck them down.

But because they stepped away from the only Light that exists.

And when you leave the Light, there is darkness.

It’s Not Just a Story—It’s Spiritual Physics

This isn’t a moral lesson.

It’s not a myth to explain human nature.

It’s a law of reality.

God is the Light.

You are not.

You either receive, or you collapse.

It’s like trying to be your own sun.

Your own breath.

Your own love.

You cannot do it.

You were not made to create light.

You were made to reflect it—like the moon reflects the sun.

To be a child.

To be poor in spirit.

To be held.

The Entire Bible Is One Long Return

From that first refusal to be loved, God never stopped pursuing us.

He called Abraham.

He rescued Israel.

He gave laws—not as control, but as protection.

He sent prophets—not to lecture, but to plead:

Come back. Let Me love you.

But again and again, the people refused.

They didn’t want to be children.

They wanted to be God.

Jesus says, “I longed to gather you like a hen gathers her chicks under her wings… but you were not willing.” (Luke 13:34)

So Love Became Small

When we refused to receive, God didn’t destroy us.

He became receivable.

He became a child.

He became poor.

He became killable.

He became bread.

He showed us what it means to be human:

“Unless you become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

And then He did what Adam refused to do:

He let Himself be loved all the way to the Cross.

You Have No Light

Let this sink in:

You have no light.

You were never meant to.

You were meant to be loved.

That’s it. That’s the whole Gospel.

The Fall wasn’t a failure of behavior. It was a refusal to be loved, and a desire to be God.

And salvation is not a prize for the strong.

It is a gift for those who are finally willing to be small.

To receive.

To trust.

To return.

Come Back to the Light

This is the one rule:

Be loved.

Stop trying to shine.

Stop trying to prove.

Stop trying to be God.

You are not the source.

You are the child.

The arms of the Father are open.

The wings of the Mother Hen are stretched out.

The Light still rises.

Let yourself be loved.
