Common questions

Who is Mary?

The mother of Jesus. Catholics honor her as the first and best disciple — the first to say yes to God's plan and the model every saint follows.

What are the mysteries of the Rosary?

Twenty events from the life of Christ and Mary, prayed in sets of five. Mary's Journey reframes seven of them as the steps every soul follows toward holiness.

Why is Mary called the perfect model of sanctification?

Because she received Christ first, before doing anything for him. Every step of her life is the pattern: surrender, receive, live with him, share him, act with him, be lifted, be crowned.

What does 'receive first' mean?

Mary of Bethany sat at Jesus's feet while Martha rushed to serve. Jesus said Mary had chosen the better part. The doing in the Christian life flows from receiving — never the other way around.

What is the painting?

Raphael's Madonna del Granduca, painted around 1505 and held in the Palazzo Pitti, Florence. It shows Mary holding the infant Jesus in calm tenderness — meant as a focal point for prayer through every step.
