Common questions

What is the Trinity?

The Christian belief that God is one being in three Persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — sharing one eternal life and one eternal love.

What does 'eternal exchange of love' mean?

From the Catechism: God in himself is an eternal exchange of love among Father, Son, and Spirit. The love is not something God has — it is what God is. And we are invited to share in it.

Why does the diagram include 'You' and 'Neighbor'?

Because the Trinity's love overflows. It moves toward you, fills you, and flows through you to your neighbor. The experience also shows what happens when that love is refused — you can shield each one to see.

Is this for non-Catholics?

Yes. The Trinity is the shared belief of Catholic, Orthodox, and most Protestant Christians. The experience is also accessible to anyone curious about Christian faith.
